Top Talent Thursday!

‘HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL.’

And Welcome back to Our Creative Corner.

It is with utmost pleasure that I present to you this Thursday all the way from Aotearoa;better known as New Zealand. A card-maker, who is enthusiastic and prolific in her creations, and the genre she most leans towards is contemporary, but she has been known on occasions to delve into the Frilly and Funky, and although branching out is not always successful, she will be the first to acknowledge, like us all, we are searching for that ‘Eureka’ moment, and as Archimedes would say, we try and look at taking a new perspective on things, to examine ones own experience of creativity, and learn to surrender conscious control.

So please welcome the first Top Talent for 2013 and congratulate our Guest for this Thursday and  the winner of the ‘Alcohol and Foil’ Challenge.
DAWN- Dawn’s World.

We are so thrilled to showcase her work, but first let us learn a little bit about her.

Questions:
1.) Where do you Live?
On the North Shore in Auckland New Zealand. Been living here for over 23 years now, but was born and brought up in Otago in the South Island.

2.) How long have you been crafting and what made you start crafting?
I've been crafting since I was a child...I've tried Fabric painting, soft toy making, cross stitch, teddy-bear making and for the last 6 years I've been card making.  This came about when I reached for a magazine at the same time as another lady, who asked me if I stamped.  When I said no, she invited me to attend a group at the Local Stamp store the next day.... and as they say, the rest is history!

3.)  If you had a time machine, what point in history would you be most inspired to visit and why?
I'd love to visit the 1700's in Europe... but only as an aristocrat!  After visiting the Versailles Palace in Paris a couple of years ago, I was intrigued with the amazing fabrics, tapestries etc.
I would love to see all the fabulous painters and craftsmen at work.

4.) What colour do you find the most difficult to work with?
Oranges and Yellows.... detest these with a passion!  I really struggle with these colours

5.) What are three of your favourite challenges that you enjoy participating in, and 'stepping out' of your comfort zone?
Of course... Our Creative Corner always have such challenging challenges.  I love trying new techniques so always enjoy any challenge that gives me a chance to try something new.   I don't particularly enjoy colour challenges.... sometimes I found that makes me step outside my "comfort zone", but I really like sketch challenges and using photo inspirations for a challenge.

6.) What is the most useless item that you have purchased for your craft?
My jumbo roller!  I did a class on using it, got very impressed, bought it and have NEVER used it since!

Thank you Dawn for being our 'Thursday's Top Talent'.  and sharing such wonderful inspiration with us!
